【摘要】:Thistestmethodwasdevelopedusingcopperelectrodestoevaluatethelow-voltage(upto600V)trackingresistanceofmaterialsinthepresenceofaqueouscontaminants.Note1-Atthistime,onlyindustriallaminateshavebeenexaminedusingthismethodwhichwasdevelopedattheNationalManufacturersElectricalAssociation(NEMA)laboratorylocatedattheUniversityofCincinnati.Itwasfoundthatacloserendpoint(lessscatter)wasobtainedthanwithplatinumelectrodes,andmaterialstestedtendedtoberankedbyresinsystem.Otherelectrodematerialsmaybeconsideredforusewiththistestmethoddependingupontheapplicationoftheinsulatingmaterial.ThistestmethodissimilartoTestMethodD3638,whichdeterminesthecomparativetrackingindexofmaterialsusingplatinumelectrodestoproducethetrackingonthespecimensurface.Thevaluesstatedinmetric(SI)unitsarethestandard.Theinch-poundequivalentsofthemetricunitsareapproximate.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
